• Slitter Technician

    Full Time - Simpsonville, South Carolina

    This position:

    The Slitter Technician position operates the Slitter machine to get finished goods according to customer specifications under the supervision and direction of the Work Flow Leader or Group Performance Leader.

     

    Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform slitter set-up, start-up and shut-down
    • Setup slitomatic according to center line
    • Perform thread-up of slitter
    • Verify shift hoist inspection has been completed.
    • Operate winder/slitter hoist to load unit rolls and remove empty mandrels
    • Manage handling and packaging of finished slit rolls (manual and/or automatic system)
    • Monitor slitter
    • Operate corematic
    • Manage work of Packaging technician(s)
    • Complete production records: Parent Roll Control form, waste and downtime for slitter, etc.
    • Lead and perform shift clean-up for slitter
    • Communicate with off-going and on-coming Slitter Technicians to ensure proper handoff
    • Assist other team members as needed
    • Assist in down day activities

    Technical Competencies Required:

    • Ability to understand and interpret process settings and center line
    • Ability to use a calculator
    • Ability to accurately read and interpret steel ruler and tap measurer (Standard and metric)
    • Working knowledge of FIRM
    • Basic computer skills
    • Ability to read and interpret Fitesa product codes and production schedules
    • Advanced troubleshooting skills and good mechanical abilities
    • Good communication and written skills

    This position requires frequent lifting and/or moving 25 to 50 pounds. This position also requires extended standing and performs physical labor in a non- climate controlled environment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

     

    Other Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment
    • 1-3 years experience operating a slitter
    • Non-woven experience preferred
